APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Applications and required documents must be submitted via email by the March 31, 2021 application closing date.

  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.

  • Applicants must be enrolling at an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical institution for the coming fall academic term.

Application Requirements

Application

The fillable scholarship application should be completed, signed letter that introduces the applicant and describes their goals and transportation-related career aspirations. 

 

Essays

The applicant will write (3) three essays with a maximum of 500 words for each essay topic as defined in the application.  Each essay shall be separate with the topic title displayed at the top of the page, typewritten using Times Roman size 12 font.  The applicant’s first and last name, email address and telephone number shall be placed in the upper right corner of each essay.

 

Video

Submit a video (30 seconds to 2 minutes in length) and answer (3) three questions without music or background interference. The applicant may not include inappropriate language, i.e., obscenity, derogatory or crude language of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group. The video may be produced in a MP4, MPEG, MOV, AVI or WMV format on a phone, computer, tablet, or any other MP4 video-enabled camera.

Extracurricular Activities and Clubs

Document the extracurricular activities and clubs that the applicant has participated in during the past four years. 

 

 

 

Community Service and Honors and Awards

Document the community service projects that the applicant has participated in during the past four years.

Letters of Recommendation

Two letters of recommendation must be submitted on official letterhead with the recommender’s contact information.  The letter of recommendation must have been written within the last 6 months, must be dated, and signed, and may be provided by a teacher, counselor, academic advisor, administrator, clergy, community leader, an employer or community organization where the applicant has worked or volunteered. The individual submitting the letter should state how he or she knows the applicant and their ability to benefit from the scholarship.   Letters of recommendation from family members will not be accepted. 

 

 

Graduation Photo or Head Shot 

Submit a graduation photo (not proofs) or recent headshot suitable for printing in organizational publications. 

 

Transcript 

Submit an official high school transcript (stamped and signed by an authorized school official) shall be sent separately via email by the applicant’s high school’s authorized official.
