COMTO North Texas Chapter

Founded in 1971 the Conference Of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) was created to provide a forum for senior level minority professionals in the transportation industry.

Executive Leadership

Ruben Landa is an experienced and accomplished leader in the architecture, engineering and construction industry. He has more than 18 years of experience in public involvement, public affairs, communications and diversity program management. His career includes time with STV Incorporated, HDR Inc., the Texas State Senate, K Strategies Group and now with WSP USA, Inc., where is the Senior Communication Manager for the Texas and Mountain region of the US. Ruben’s professional career includes extensive experience developing and managing public involvement and diversity programs on many high-profile legacy projects in Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio and Houston, as well as Phoenix, Arizona. Ruben maintains an in-depth understanding of public policy, public administration and community factors that can affect decision making on major public projects. This has allowed him to develop programs using a strategic approach that has produced positive results for both the client and the community.

Through his considerable expertise, Ruben has developed strategic partnerships and maintains leadership roles with numerous advocacy organizations in the industry, including minority chambers, contractor associations and trade organizations. He is a committed industry leader and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of the Regional Hispanic Contractors Association (RHCA), Vice President of Outreach for the MBE Institute for Public Policy (MBEIPP) and Vice President of Programs for the Greater Dallas Planning Council (GDPC).

Scholarship Golf Tournament was held in Dallas at the Golf Course and thanks to our sponsors, we awarded $6500 in scholarships to five outstanding students in the Dallas/Fort Area. Visit our Scholarship page and read more about this year’s scholars.

May and June

Collaborated with the Regional Hispanic Contractors to support TX-Department of Transportation’s project across the state of Texas.  We hosted the Dallas event which attracted over 200 attendees.  The Houston COMTO chapter attracted 150 attendees as well.
